Krushiyug Farmer Producer Company Goshegaon

Activity performed by The Framer Producer Company

The Farmer Producer Company (FPC) has successfully adopted a range of climate-resilient agriculture practices for major crops such as soybean, maize, and gram to enhance productivity and reduce climate-related risks. These practices include the use of drought-tolerant and improved seed varieties, timely sowing based on weather forecasts, and soil moisture conservation techniques like mulching and broad bed furrow (BBF) systems. Farmers have also adopted integrated nutrient management through the use of organic manures and balanced fertilizers, along with integrated pest management (IPM) practices to reduce crop losses. Water-use efficiency has been improved through appropriate irrigation methods and rainwater harvesting measures. Additionally, regular capacity-building programs and field demonstrations have strengthened farmers’ knowledge and adoption levels. As a result, these interventions have contributed to improved crop yields, reduced input costs, and enhanced resilience of farmers against climate variability.

The Farmer Producer Company (FPC) has systematically adopted residue-free agriculture practices to promote safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly farming. These practices emphasize minimizing the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers by encouraging farmers to use organic and bio-based inputs such as vermicompost, bio-fertilizers, and plant-based extracts like neem formulations. The FPC promotes Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques, including the use of pheromone traps, sticky traps, and biological control agents, to manage pests effectively without leaving harmful chemical residues. Farmers are also guided on maintaining proper crop rotation, soil health management, and timely agronomic practices to naturally reduce pest and disease incidence. Regular training, field demonstrations, and monitoring ensure adherence to residue-free protocols, including observing safe pre-harvest intervals. These efforts have resulted in improved soil health, safer agricultural produce, and better market opportunities due to increased consumer demand for residue-free food products.

BRC Unit

10-Drum Unit Vermicompost Unit
10-Drum Unit

The 10-Drum Unit was established by the Farmer Producer Company (FPC) in 2024 to promote eco-friendly and sustainable agricultural practices. Continuous monocropping in the area had led to excessive use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides, resulting in soil degradation and environmental pollution. To address these challenges, the FPC decided to produce and supply bio-fertilizers and natural inputs. As part of the initiative, WOTR organized an exposure visit to operational 10-Drum Units, which enabled FPC members to understand the production process and operational aspects. Based on these learnings and local demand assessment, the unit was established under the ProRISE project of WOTR with a 40% financial contribution from the FPC.

Vermicompost Unit

The vermicompost unit was established by the Farmer Producer Company (FPC) in 2025 to address the low adoption of bio-fertilizers among farmers and to promote sustainable soil health management practices. The unit was set up under the Honeywell Project of the Watershed Organization Trust (WOTR), with a 40% financial contribution from the FPC, ensuring ownership and long-term sustainability. The objective of the unit is to ensure local availability of quality organic manure and to encourage farmers to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. At present, two production cycles of vermicompost have been successfully completed, and the produced vermicompost has been utilized by member farmers in their fields, contributing to improved soil fertility and increased awareness about organic inputs.

Business Operations

In the initial stage, agricultural produce procurement and basic trading activities were carried out from open spaces due to the lack of infrastructure. As operations expanded, the company established an organized Collection Center and began systematic procurement and trading of major crops such as wheat, chickpea (gram), maize, and soybean. This has ensured transparent transactions and fair prices for farmers.
With 50% grant support from WOTR, a Cleaning and Grading Unit was established. This unit has significantly improved the quality of agricultural produce by removing impurities and grading crops according to market standards, thereby enabling farmers to realise better prices.
With support from the Government, a godown was constructed to ensure safe and scientific storage of agricultural produce. This facility helps farmers avoid distress sales, allows for better stock management, and enables the company to supply produce based on market demand.
A 60-metric-ton capacity weighing scale was installed to ensure transparent and accurate weighing during procurement. 50% of the financial support for this infrastructure was provided by WOTR, which has strengthened trust among farmers and improved transparency in all transactions.
